Description of the assignment

Main Purpose of Job

  • Three constituent parts Business Development, Marketing and Managing Clients/Customer Feedback
  • To seek out new business opportunities via CPD & customer meetings
  • Maintain relationships with existing customers
  • Target new opportunities (Tenders) and sell all of our existing services
  • Increase the frequency of revenue generating tenders
  • To raise the company’s profile in traditional and new media
  • Assist with overall growth of the new business in line with the company’s strategy
  • Co-ordinate with other BDM & business leaders to ensure they have the latest information in terms of opportunities and client relationships

Key Tasks

  • To identify future projects located in the North as identified in the company’s strategy, that will potentially require BSL input
  • To pro-actively identify and pursue new client’s & growth from existing clients in new areas
  • Regularly meet with UK’s leading and niche consulting engineers to understand their workloads and potential effects on our business
  • Understand what they are working on, when they are working on it and for who they are doing it
  • Understanding what our competitors are doing, who they are working for and why, what they are doing differently to secure  work that we are not either bidding or are losing when bid
  • Using the two key tasks above produce a monthly task review and present it to the Business Unit Manager
  • Coordinating with the other BDM within the business, to develop, produce and co-ordinate an annual Business Development Plan for all business streams. To be in place by the last quarter of the year.
    Work with the Business Unit Manager & other SLT leaders to promote the company and its products to both new and existing customers
  • Work with the Marketing team to generate stock photographs, standard company literature (Case Studies, Capability Statements, Plant & Equipment holding and key staff CV’s etc.) and standard PowerPoint presentation templates. Review all of these at least every quarter
  • Ensure our image is current, relevant and in keeping with Group policies/standards
  • Coordinating with the other BDM within the business & the marketing manager, to develop and implement company marketing strategy in accordance with the budget & strategy plan, through advertising, company freebies, Technical Presentations, Breakfast clubs, Seminars, Lunch & Learn, CPD days etc
  • Coordinating with the other BDM’s within the business & the marketing manager, ensure – Linkedin, Twitter and the company website, are regularly updated with relevant information promoting the company.
  • Arrange, organise, and attend industry exhibitions/awards/corporate and industry functions
  • Coordinating with the other BDM within the business & the marketing manager, to co-ordinate Industry Award Entries e.g. GE awards, BDA awards, Construction Industry Awards, Brownfield Awards etc

Profile

  • Attending projects, to be aware of the latest business processes and capabilities to be able to engage with clients from a point of technical knowledge
  • To Co-ordinate and develop the northern business unit specific customer relationships and maintain key client records through the CRM platform
  • Provide a customer orientated service which provides a company contact allowing the highest possible client satisfaction
  • Assist the Proposals Co-ordinator and Estimating team with supporting documentation/presentations as necessary
  • Ensure all BSL employees are aware of the importance of “Brand” presentation and the part they play in marketing the company

Knowledge and Experience Required

  • Excellent customer focus and managing clients’ expectations, through face to face meetings
  • Essential understanding of what the company can and cannot do and how our capabilities and requirements continually change - Adaptable
  • Significant experience of the UK geotechnical and construction industry
  • Has impact making first impressions count
  • High levels of accuracy and attention to detail in all forms of communication
  • Excellent IT skills including Word, Excel, database management and Desktop Publishing
  • Proven ability to Work well in a team or as an individual
  • Sound knowledge of social media and marketing platforms
  • Effective time management ensuring deadlines are met
  • Excellent interpersonal skills to liaise with clients and members of the regional team
  • Driven towards providing a quality service
  • Full UK driving licence

Physical Working Environment

Normally work at our Burscough Office, with regular travel to customers and regional offices as required
